Rakiura has a unique ecosystem. Our native species once thrived without any native predators. However, many introduced predators and pests arrived with humans, and threaten the survival of our native species. Success at keeping predators out is one of the most important parts of an eradication to ensure you don’t lose any gains made. Find out more about biosecurity and what you can do to help:
