We take schools from all over the world on camps

In 2019 we asked the local Halfmoon Bay School's students to tell us about the year 2050 and what the island is like now we have a Predator Free Rakiura.

It's the year 2050. My name is Bree and I am 41 years old.

I work at DOC, out in the field with Betty. We are Guides. We take people from all over the world on a tour around Stewart Island.

We get Kate or Zac to make auto paddles so we can take photos while we are moving.

We do research, like how old the birds are and see if they are male or female as well as being Tour Guides.

We all stay and look for wildlife to keep happy and make people feel better as well.

We take schools from all over the world on camps or field trips and let them see what it is like to live on Stewart Island. We see land and sea animals all the time. We get the school and groups to rate the tour, we hope it's always 5 or 4 stars. Our tour takes no more than five days. we have a first aid kit whenever they get sick. We give the oldies some deer or blue cod or something nice to eat. Sam cleans the meat and makes it nice to eat.

We also get some people to check the rat traps and I ring Shay to tell him to come and have a look if there is one.

We sometimes have to turn around or make shelter on land because of the weather or the sea.

We all stay and look for wildlife to keep happy and make people feel better as well.

We all had close calls like when Betty fell off her boat and there were sharks around. We thought it was very funny and we all laughed together.

From Bree, 2050
