Janet Copeland - Independent Trustee

I’m the Managing Partner of Copeland Ashcroft, a law firm specialising in employment law, health and safety, and immigration. I have over 30 years' experience in employment and health and safety law, and have been involved in governance roles across a range of sectors including national sporting codes, netball franchises, tertiary education, local government, law, and health.

Having grown up on a farm I have watched in my lifetime how the use of fertilisers has choked our rivers and streams, how rabbits have destroyed the countryside, and how possums have plundered our birdlife.

The loss of the birdsong in the bush has always been upsetting for me and I look forward to the opportunity to make a difference for Rakiura (Stewart Island) and to see the island predator free so that we can continue to see our birdlife flourish and thrive.
